I'm no graphic artist. I can't draw or paint worth a damn and a blank Pixelmator canvas is a scary thing. But I do have a little bit of an artistic bent and I've found some software applications that let me work in a way that complements my, perhaps mathematical, way of doing things.
These are ArtMatic by UISoftware (who also make the excellent MetaSynth) and Studio Artist by Synthetik. I came to both packages as a way of thinking about music visually and, in the process, have come to a better appreciation of creating visual art as well. I'm currently learning ArtMatic and am publishing an image a day to encourage me to keep experimenting.
I'm really just getting started...
